New Envision Home Being Started in the Town of Nashville Wisconsin

Bohm Builders recently started construction on this vacation home on some beautiful wooded hillside acreage in northern Wisconsin. We’ll update it as we progress…What a wonderful get away this will be for our customers that work hard during the week and want to relax on their time off.

Rustic Log Stair near Crivitz Wisconsin

Bohm Builders did a small project this past March near Crivitz Wisconsin in Marinette County. We added a Rustic log stair to an existing cottage. This is an option we’ve seen our log home customers adding to their dream log homes ad cabins.

Lower Level Living

Finishing your basement can be a great way to add more space to your house without adding the kind of money it takes to add on to your home. Here are some pics of a recent basement completion project we did near Wabeno, Wisconsin. We added a bedroom and cut into the existing concrete wall and added an egress window. Part of the project included adding a large closet with lots of storage shelves. And last but not least……a wet bar area for entertaining.

Knowing where your Property Boundaries Are

Do you know exactly where your property corners are?? When Bohm Builders positions your new home with you, prior to excavation, there are many factors that play into how we position it. We take into consideration many factors, among them are: 1) Customer’s preference, 2) View 3) Distance to septic, power source and well, 4) Topography to name a few. One of the biggest factors is setback regulations. How far we need to be setback from the street or road or highway. How far we need to be setback from a a river, stream, lake or pond. How far we need to be setback from the side yard lot line, or rear yard lot line. Each municipality or county or township or all of them have minimum setback distances in place and are enforceable. Taking all these factors into consideration, we can easily position your home, on your lot. But you need to show us where your property boundaries are. Once you show us, positioning the home is a breeze. If you do not know, or you are uncertain, you may want to consider having your property surveyed to determine where your land is exactly. This makes sense, is the safest way to position your home so you can avoid possibly being too close to the lot line or too close to your neighbor’s septic system or too close to the State Highway Centerline. Varmint Deterrent

We built a deck on a log home last spring that was fairly low to the ground and the owner was concerned about rabbits and mice and squirrels and chippies taking up residence underneath his deck. So we came up with a solution and purchased this wire mesh that we installed behind the deck’s skirting. The mesh comes in various sizes and colors. This mesh was actually colored green and could have easily been used without something covering it. Here are some pictures of the installed mesh and the deck’s skirt covering material

Carbon Monoxide Alarm

As of February 1, 2011, any building permits issued for most new 1 family and 2 family homes will be require your new home to have carbon monoxide alarms installed. There is a variety of specifications which determine how many and where. Home building codes are ever changing, most always cause the cost of your new home project to rise and this one is no different, but is designed for the safety of your family in mind.

Drilling a Well in Wisconsin

Below is an excerpt regarding what is required before drilling a private well. When you have Bohm Builders include the well in our Construction Contract(if you are building in the country), we take care of all of this for you. Saves you a ton of aggravation dealing with agencies and paperwork you probably are not familiar with. Let us take care of it for you!

What to do Before Constructing a Private Well

A DNR Notification Number must be obtained prior to constructing a well.
- The fee for constructing a private well is $50 and includes drive point wells.
- Fees can be paid at any of the 1500 locations where you can purchase a DNR hunting or fishing license or you can purchase one online for an additional $3.00 fee.
- The fee can be paid by either the owner of the well or the well constructor. Regardless of who pays the fee, it is the well constructor’s responsibility to obtain a copy of the receipt showing the DNR Notification Number before commensing work on the well.
Whether purchasing the Notification permit online or from a vendor, be prepared to answer the following questions:
- Name of Well Driller
- Well Type – New or Replacement
- County
- Name of City, Village or Township
- Street Name (and # if known)
- Nearest Intersecting Road or Highway
- Name of Property Owner
A Well Construction Report must be completed and filed with the DNR. (See below for how to obtain a Well Construction Report.)
- The Notification Number must be listed on the lower right hand corner of the DNR Well Construction Report beneath the signature lines until such a time that the form can be revised to include a space for the notification number.
